Bronze wedge-tailed eagle sculpture by David Wood

Commissioned by City of Whittlesea and City of Monash

Procured by ACLA Consultants

Location: Hilltop playground and Splash Park, Doreen; Mulgrave Reserve, Wheelers Hill

Materials: Bronze

Drawn from David Wood’s conceptual works on paper begun in 2020 and developed further through clay models, Pageant is a series of small bronze figures based on local fauna.

Installed across Hilltop Playground and Splash Park, Doreen, and Mulgrave Reserve, the bronzes are placed on rounded stone forms through the landscape rather than gathered in one spot.

Seen gradually among trees, paths and play areas, the work asks for looking, finding and returning.

The sculptures bring David’s earlier drawings into public space as a dispersed bronze sequence made for children, families and the wider life of each site.
