Chihuahua
This winged Chihuahua was made for a private client’s front gate as a memorial to a much-loved companion.
Working from photographs supplied by the client, David made a series of drawings and refined the piece through consultation, so the particular character, stance and proportions of the dog were carried into the final work.
The form was created largely through repoussé.
Set within the gate, the Chihuahua seems to spring forward, its wings giving the piece both tenderness and a sense of flight.
From design to making and finishing, the work took about 130 hours.
